About the service
We provide information, advice and support on a range of topics relating to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). To find out more you can watch our short information video about the service:
We can:
- Explain your rights, responsibilities and options, so that you feel able to make informed decisions
- Talk you through SEND processes and paperwork, including sharing good practice examples
- Help you to prepare and share your views, wishes, feelings and concerns
- Help you to prepare for meetings, create agendas and to advocate for your child.
We cannot:
- Tell you what we think you should do, or recommend settings, courses or services
- Contribute wording about your child to individual plans and documents
- Become involved in complaints and we do not hold power over the local authority or any settings
- Accept all requests to attend meetings, requests are considered on an individual basis
Service offer
We offer information, advice and support in a range of ways. You will find it across this website, on our YouTube channels, Facebook and Instagram (search Leeds SENDIASS). For upcoming sessions and events please visit our news and events page.
Governance
We are independent from the local authority and are guided by an Advisory Group made up of people who represent the children, young people, families and services we work with. This helps ensure that different views and experiences help shape our service.
