What does the Advisory Group do?

The Leeds SENDIASS Advisory Group meets once each school term to help ensure that we continue to provide a high-quality, impartial and effective service for children and young people with SEND and their parents and carers.

As a SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS), we are required to meet national Minimum Standards and work in line with the SEND Code of Practice. The Advisory Group plays an important role in helping us monitor the quality, independence and effectiveness of the service and ensuring that it continues to respond to local needs.

The group includes representatives from parent and carer forums, education, health, social care, voluntary and community organisations, and other key partners involved in supporting children and young people with SEND.

The Advisory Group helps to:

  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of Leeds SENDIASS.
  • Review service developments, priorities and future plans.
  • Support and challenge the service to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the service remains impartial, confidential and accessible.
  • Consider feedback from children, young people, parents and carers.
  • Monitor progress against service development plans and national SENDIASS Minimum Standards.
  • Promote good practice and help identify areas where services can be improved.
  • Ensure the service continues to meet the needs of local families.

The Advisory Group acts as a critical friend to Leeds SENDIASS, providing both support and constructive challenge to help us continually improve the information, advice and support we provide.
